Common file formats for digital voice to text
digital recorders can store various audio file formats. What size often depends on the brand and type of recorder you buy. Some writers let you save files if you have more than one file format. To verify that the recording format is stored as just looking at the file extension, for example, the three-letter file to point to the fileName (WS30091.wma for example). Some writers are ideal for single speaker, dictation (eg DS2400), where editing and add comments when you decide is important. Other tackle one-on-one interviews or focus group studies (eg, DS50), where external microphones or omni-directional microphones can be purchased as an add-on (ME-30W).
Files stored on CD

Insert the CD into the CD / DVD and use the rip in Windows Media Player (WMP) to rip the CD or a particular song. There are usually two ways to tracks in WMP library. A compressed format without loss of process rather than an uncompressed file format, and use more spaceeffective. Lossless compression format offers a compression ratio of about 2:01.
(. MP3 MPEG Layer-3). MP3 file is a compressed file format that is usually associated with music files. The advantage of compressed files is reduced transfer / upload to send the press.
:. WMA (Windows Media Audio). WMA file format owned by Microsoft and is associated with the use of Windows Media Player. wma. compressed files while maintaining their goodquality.
(. DSS Digital Speech Standard). DSS files are its own format Olympus Olympus authors. DSS Files are said to be 1/12th the size of conventional 1/20th WAVE files without reducing the quality of reproduction. This is an excellent file format to produce a good sound quality.
. DS2 (Digital Speech Standard Pro). DS2 files are an Olympus proprietary format, as described above. This is the new Pro High compression DSS format used by Olympus.Not all transcription software to read this new file format to go with their supplier.
:. DVE (Digital Voice File). DVE file is a Sony proprietary format from Sony writers. Again, this is a file format produces excellent sound with exceptional clarity.
Of course all of the above file formats can be used for purposes of transcription, but any difference in sound quality and file size so keep this in mind when you buy the digital recorder.
