digital recorders can store various audio file formats. What size often depends on the brand and type of recorder you buy. Some writers let you save files if you have more than one file format. :. DVE (Digital Voice File). DVE file is a Sony proprietary format from Sony writers. Again, this is a file format produces excellent sound with exceptional clarity.

Of course all of the above file formats can be used for purposes of transcription, but any difference in sound quality and file size so keep this in mind when you buy the digital recorder.
